An infant has died in southwestern Wisconsin's measles outbreak, the first death of its kind in the state since 1990. The coroner listed measles as the immediate cause. The Department of Health Services won't share other details, citing the family's privacy. State epidemiologist Dr. Ryan Westergaard warned the real case count is likely higher.
Iowa, Lafayette and Grant counties make up the majority of the outbreak. Two MMR doses are about 97% effective, and officials put Wisconsin's kindergarten MMR rate at about 85%.
