Madison Jazz Jam & Workshop – Sonny Rollins

About this event

MJS is back and we have some changes in alignment with our educational commitment. Our schedule for this season will be afternoon workshops & jams on the second and fourth Sundays, starting at 3:30 pm, for all jazz musicians, no matter what level, and all jazz aficionados.

3:30 – 4:30pm Workshop An instructor will teach tools for improvising over one or more of the selected songs.

4:30 – 6:30pm Jazz Jam Session Each jam will start with everyone in the workshop playing the “workshopped” song(s). We use a sign-up sheet so that everyone has the opportunity to step on stage and play a song they’re comfortable with.

Come ready to learn more about 1 or more of these songs: Tenor Madness (blues), St Thomas, Oleo (rhythm changes).

All MJS & MJJ Workshops & Jams are free and open to the public. Musicians of all levels are welcome and all Jazz lovers are encouraged to come & enjoy.
