Webinar: Salt Wise Stories: Village of Walworth

About this event

After attending a Salt Wise workshop in Fall 2024, Village Public Works staff built a rudimentary brine maker and brine application units to pre-treat roads and sidewalks with salt brine. On a shoe-string budget, they engineered basic gravity-fed units. In the off-season, they made updates to increase brine production capacity and better control application rates. In early 2026, the Village passed a new snow removal policy with a heavy emphasis on liquids for anti-icing, pre-wet, and direct application. Estimated salt savings per event is roughly $1,000.
